Who is Team Leadership for?
Team Leadership is a program designed for team leaders or managers who are responsible for the work of others – most commonly first-level managers with little to no managerial experience. This program can also be a refresher for managers who have been in their roles for some time without formal training.
What is the curriculum like?
In our Team Leadership program, participants learn:
- How to prepare to influence and lead others, even former peers
- Best practices for analyzing and motivating a team
- How to adjust their communication style to best fit the audience
- How to clarify and communicate expectations for their team
- Best practices for handling team challenges
- How to drive team accountability
- To take control and put their own leadership system in place
Participants also have access to 29 unique tools to download and use to better their leadership and share with their team.
Where is Team Leadership offered?
When it comes to enrolling, there are a variety of participation options that are dependent on your organization and preferences. We offer our Team Leadership program in the following two settings:
Public Team Leadership Program
Our pubic programs are designed for small organizations that may not have a whole group to send through training together. Public programs are also a great option for larger organizations who have already sent a group through training together but have a new hire that they’d like to bring up-to-speed.
Our public Team Leadership program brings together a handful of people from a variety of organizations. We offer our public programs in the fall and spring. Our public Team Leadership program is offered online, as a self-study program with live, group check-ins with MPI instructors. This allows participants to work through the program modules on their own and use the live check-ins to connect with other participants and MPI practitioners, ask questions and learn more about the lessons in the modules they completed.
Private Team Leadership Program
Our private program options are designed for organizations that have groups of employees that they’d like to participate in training together. This creates a team experience and provides employees an opportunity to become a more cohesive team. Private programs are a great option if your organization is looking to drive a cultural change – leaders will complete the program with a unified language to bring back to their team and speak with colleagues.
As far as curriculum, we cover the same material in our public and private trainings – the only difference is that in private training, participants learn alongside their colleagues. Like our public offerings, private training can be offered as a self-study program with live check-ins (as explained above) or facilitated by an MPI instructor in-person or live-online. Private trainings can be scheduled at your convenience.
How our Team Leadership program came to be
All of our core programs (Personal Leadership, Team Leadership and Organizational Leadership) were created to solve problems expressed by our clients.
The transition from doing to leading can be hard. In some cases, peers become direct reports, and being responsible for the work of others can be daunting.
That’s why we created the Team Leadership program – to help managers meet and exceed expectations in their new role, effectively communicate with their team and colleagues, and drive team execution.
